Proposal and Application Procedures

All persons interested in conducting research at the Glovers Reef station are asked to submit a proposal for review. All proposals should be e-mailed as an attached document in Microsoft Word format to the Station Manager at atilley@wcs.org

Use of the Station is solely on approval by the Wildlife Conservation Society. Your proposal will be reviewed quickly. Investigators will be notified by email or in writing of successful project proposals and applications. The proposal process will include application by the Project Leader to the Belize Fisheries Administrator for a research permit. No researchers will be allowed to use the station without first obtaining the necessary Belizean permits or letters of authorization. WCS will be able to provide assistance in this area. WCS can also pay the necessary research permit fees (usually about $250, plus or minus) and then add these to your station costs. Additional information and details regarding research permits can obtained by contacting the Fisheries Administrator directly at the following address:

Progress Reports and Renewals
A progress report is required for all projects and should be submitted to the station manager upon completion, or not later than three-months following field research activities. Investigators must also provide the Belize Fisheries Department and the WCS copies of all work (either in progress or completed).  Reprints of all work originating at the station should be provided to the station as soon as possible.  Renewals of long-term projects will be possible but are subject to proper documentation of progress.

The Principle Investigator will be considered responsible for the project, scientifically and administratively, and will be the principal contact for GRMRS staff unless a qualified alternate has been designated. Please state the scientific responsibilities of each investigator and attach a brief biographical sketch for each project participant.
